The Weekend Works is a visual collaboration between myself and photographer Sarah Anderson. We use this platform to explore ideas and experiment with still life outside of our day jobs. As we both work full-time jobs, the only time we have available to work on these projects is on the weekends. The mark uses a monthly calendar template, with two days — Saturday and Sunday — being crossed out as marked days for us to work. The brand's copy also illustrates in the opposite way our availability — with Monday to Friday struck out.
We aim to try new techniques and test out ideas in an innovative way. For example, the smashed plates were produced using sound to shoot rather than the shutter on the camera.
